Description

The Allen-Bradley 1785-L40B is a Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) component. This product is a Controller that belongs to the PLC5 product family. It is mounted to a PLC5 chassis such as 1771-A1B, 1771-A2B, 1771-A3B, 1771-A3B1, and 1771-A4B.

This controller is ideally used for medium to large automation application as it is built with a 48KWords user memory capable of handling any combination of I/O devices with total count of 2048 points or 2048 input and 2048 output devices for complementary configuration. With the increased I/O capacity, this controller can also handle up to 29 PLC 5 racks, composed of 1 local rack and 28 Remote I/O rack. The local rack refers to the rack where the controller is installed.

This controller is also built with Four (4) DH+ or Remote I/O (Adapter or Scanner) combination port, One (1) serial port, configurable for RS-232 and 423 and RS-422A communication standards. Each of the combination port may be used with separate networks, allowing the controller to implement Four (4) independent DH+ / RIO networks. The serial communication channel allows point-to-point interface which is also ideally used for short distance communication.

Additional EEPROM or backup memory devices may be installed to serves as the controller’s non-volatile memory. Available memory cards are 1785-ME16 for 16K words, 1785-ME32 for s 32K words, 1785-ME64 for 64K words and 1785-ME100 for 100K words.
