The 1783-BMS20CGN is a managed ethernet switch from Allen-Bradley. This industrial-grade ethernet switch is part of the Stratix product line and specifically belongs to the Stratix 5700 sub-category. This switch comes with a total of Twenty (20) ethernet interfaces, comprised of Sixteen (16) Fast Ethernet (FE) ports and Two (2) Gigabit Ethernet (GE) combo ports. It also comes with two (2) Fiber module ports for the installation of fiber modules. It is also provided with an alarm relay rated 1 A @ 30V DC or 0.5 A @ 48V DC while the switch power supply requirement is 0.5-3.0 A maximum input current at a supply voltage range of 12-48V DC, Class 2/SELV power supply. It has rated power consumption of 21 W @ 24V DC/40 °C (104 °F) 30 W max and power dissipation of 30 Watts. This Ethernet switch comes with continuous isolation rated 50 V, a basic insulation type. The device isolation exists between DC power ports to ground, DC power ports to Ethernet ports, and DC power ports to alarm ports. The 1783-BMS20CGN fiber ports are compatible for installation with Allen-Bradley's recommended SFP modules such as 1783-SFP100FX, 1783-SFP100LX,1783-SFP100EXC, 1783-SFP100ZXC, 1783-SFP100T, 1783-SFP1GSX, 1783-SFP1GLX, 1783-SFP1GEXE, 1783-SFP1GZX, and 1783-SFP1GTE. It also comes with a Secure Digital (SD) card slot that is compatible with the installation of a 1784-SD1, 1 GB memory card. This switch has an open-type enclosure rating therefore, it must be installed within a protective enclosure.
The Allen-Bradley 1783-BMS20CGN switch is an industrial grade managed Ethernet switch which belongs to the Stratix 5700 series of industrial switches. The total number of network ports available on the 1783-BMS20CGN switch are 20. To prevent switch overheating, a minimum clearance of 2 inches should be provided around the top, bottom, sides, and front of the switch. The temperature of the air surrounding the switch should not exceed 60 degrees Celsius. The length of cables connected to 10/100 and 10/100/1000 ports should not exceed 100 meters. The Ethernet cables connected to the 1783-BMS20CGN switch should be kept away from sources of electrical noise such as power lines and radios. For optimal noise immunity, shielded Ethernet cables should be used on the RJ45 uplink ports for the 1783-BMS20CGN switch. The range of power input to the switch is 12 to 48 Volts DC voltage and 0.5 to 3 Amps of current. The maximum power consumption and the maximum power dissipation of the 1783-BMS20CGN switch are both 30 Watts. The enclosure of the switch is open and it measures 129.5 x 127 x 128.3 millimeters. The approximate weight of the switch is 2.04 kilograms. Out of the 20 switch ports, 16 ports are RJ45 Fast Ethernet ports, 2 are Gigabit Ethernet combo ports, and 2 are fiber Fast Ethernet ports which accept fiber SFPs. To increase the switch memory, the 1784-SD1 card can be ordered from Allen-Bradley and installed in the 1783-BMS20CGN switch.
