The Allen-Bradley 1791ES-IB16 is a CompactBlock Guard I/O Ethernet I/P Safety module. This module is used to implement Common Industrial Protocol (CIP) safety protocol over Ethernet I/P network. This module may be used in safety-control network systems that requires up to and including Safety Integrity Level Chain Limit 3 (SIL CL3), as specified by IEC 61508 and Category 4 (CAT 4) and Performance Level (PLe) as required by ISO-13849-1 standard.
This module is paired with a safety controller to monitor the status and fault diagnostics of the I/O modules. It comes with safety inputs compatible for use with safety devices such as emergency stop push buttons, safety curtains, and gate switches. It also comes with a dual-channel mode functionality that evaluates consistency between two (2) input signals which meets Safety Category 3 and 4.
